Cultural Shifts

Aims & Scope

AIMS

Cultural Shifts seeks first and foremost to promote contributions in a whole range of diverse media formats, and the dialogue and debates across mediums and disciplines that result from these contributions. We want contributors to critically engage with their submissions, and equally as importantly, with each other. We envision this space as a place for people with diverse experiences to join together and express themselves publicly, all the while learning from one another. We encourage textual, visual, and audio submissions (and potentially other media formats that might fit with a web interface) from anyone who is serious and interested in the themes of Cultural Shifts.

SCOPE

Generally speaking, we are interested in the critical assessment of “our culture”. By “our”, we mean the entire gamut of cultural processes that connect people around the world, and by “culture” we are not referring to only the food, music, visual arts and entertainment in a given society. Rather, we adopt the broad definition that includes politics, law, economy, social relations, ecology, philosophical ideas, history, and communication, as well as countless other aspects of “our culture”. As such, we believe we gain insight into the transitions and shifts in culture, both to our current moment, and from it. In short, we are open to contributions on any topic or issue relating to any region or place in the world, covering more or less any time period, but we ask that contributors critically examine whatever they are interested in.

Cultural Shifts is an open-access, not-for-profit initiative. To find out more about how to submit your work, click here.
